#Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of the most famous composers of the Viennese Classical period and, last but not least, one of the most famous musicians of our entire human history. His most famous works include “The Little Night Music”; and the operas “The Magic Flute”; and “Don Giovanni”. **Biography:** Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on the 17th January in the year 1756 in the Austrian city of Salzburg as the seventh child of the musician Leopold Mozart and his wife Anna. The infant mortality rate was still very high at that time, which is why five of his siblings died at an early age. Only Wolfgang himself and his sister Maria Anna, who was five years older, remained alive. Although Wolfgang went down in our history under the name “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart”;, his real full name was actually “Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart”;. Where the middle name “Amadeus”; comes from is controversial. Wolfgang’s father, Leopold Mozart, was a respected violin and piano player. It was he who recognized and encouraged Wolfgang’s talent at such an early age. When Wolfgang was tenderly three years old, he already had piano lessons from his father. So the wonder child already composed his first own music pieces at the young age of five (!) years. In addition, little Wolfgang had an excellent musical memory, so that he could play many pieces of music perfectly and without mistakes after listening once. In 1762, when Wolfgang “Amadeus”; was six years young, Leopold took his two children with him to Munich. Wolfgang’s first concert tour began with this. From then on he played more and more often in front of high-ranking and rich personalities. Everyone was fascinated and overwhelmed by the achievements of the fabulous child prodigy. The highlight of the concert tour was the performance at the imperial court in Vienna, where he and his sister Anna Maria were received personally by Empress Maria Theresa. Wolfgang traveled so often that he had no time to go to school. He nevertheless mastered reading, writing and arithmetic, since he was also taught in these areas by his father Leopold. At the age of nine Wolfgang finally wrote his first opera called “Apollo and Hyacinthus”;. At the age of thirteen he was appointed concertmaster by the Archbishop of Salzburg. In the course of his life, Mozart repeatedly returned to his hometown of Salzburg to pursue his tasks and duties as concertmaster, despite many appearances and concert tours abroad. In 1781, he finally resigned his post as concertmaster and moved to Vienna. He was not a full-time musician at the time, but he was an extremely respected pianist and composer. Through the many symphonies, operas and concerts he became more and more famous in the city and also nationwide. At the age of 26 he married Konstanze Weber, who was six years younger. They had a total of six children, but only two of them were older than 10 years. In the year 1787 Mozart briefly taught Ludwig van Beethoven, who was sixteen at the time. In the same year Wolfgang finished the composition “eine kleine Nachtmusik”;, which was to become one of his most famous compositions. A year later he wrote his last three symphonies. In the year of his death he wrote his last opera,The Magic Flute”;. Also, this is considered today as very important and well-known. Despite many successful operas and compositions, he never made the big breakthrough during his lifetime. Thus, he died on the 5th December in the year 1791, at the age of only 35 years, finally completely impoverished in Vienna. He was buried at St. Marx’s Cemetery. **Most famous musical pieces:** Mozart has written many of the most popular compositions of our music history.
